New Certification Expands Inicia’s Inspection Services: SP001 Certified AST Inspector Now In-House
- MAR 27, 2025
- 1818 Taba, Uruma City, Okinawa, Japan
We are pleased to announce that Inicia now offers Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) inspections under the internationally recognized SP001 Standard, certified by the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/SPFA). With the recent certification of our inspector, Mr. Jose Angel Velez (SP001 Certified Inspector ID: AST-7472), Inicia is ready to provide compliant and professional AST inspections throughout Japan, including Okinawa and mainland installations.
Why This Matters
OAST inspections are a key requirement for facilities managing flammable, combustible, or hazardous liquids — including many U.S. military installations under the EPA SPCC Rule (40 CFR 112) and internal base regulations. Historically, most AST inspection services for U.S. bases in Japan have required mobilizing inspectors from the U.S., causing delays and additional costs.
By securing this certification locally, Inicia now offers:
- Immediate availability of SP001-certified inspection services
- Full compliance with U.S. military, EPA, and STI/SPFA standards
- Cost-effective and streamlined project execution across Japan
This addition complements Inicia's existing portfolio of EH&S services and further strengthens our commitment to supporting our clients with reliable, U.S.-standard services without the need to import inspectors from overseas.
